Update motherboard for newer cpu

Hi,
I have MSI AMD B350M PRO-VDH AM4 Ryzen/Athlon DDR4 and ryzen 3 1200 cpu. I want to upgrade cpu to ryzen 5 2600 but seemingly I need to update my motherboard. How do I update my motherboard? I want to minimise costs in upgrading and look to avoid having to buy new motherboard as well as new cpu. Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

You don't have to buy a new motherboard. You simply have to update to the latest bios for your motherboard. You can find teh latest bios here https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B350M-PRO-VDH

Thank you very much. Could i update my bios and still use current ryzen 3 1200 in anticipation to getting ryzen 5 2600 or should I only update bios when getting new cpu.

Yes, you can still use your Ryzen 3 1200 after you update your bios.

Thanks Volkgren, I have one more question for you. It seems as though I have the latest update for my BIOS and I updated it in December 2018 and apparently the latest update came out in November. I custom built this pc so I think I am good to go, I just assumed it would be a more difficult process but thanks for the help. I am already Ryzen 5 2600 ready by the looks of it. Have a good one
