Hi everyone,
need help.
My old pc is 8 years old and it's fighting hard with my new lumix S1H files. I use proxy but it's not fluyd anyway, computer crash often and doesn't export if I use too much effects.

My configuration is:
- Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit
-CPU: Intel Core i7 4770 @ 3.40GHz Haswell 22nm Technology
-RAM: Corsair 16,0GB Dual-Channel 2*8BG DDR3-1600 @ 799MHz (10-10-10-27) serie vengeance
  • Motherboard: MSI Z87-G43 (MS-7816) (SOCKET 0)
  • Graphics:
monitor LG 22EA53 (1920x1080@60Hz)
monitor LG 22EA53 (1920x1080@60Hz)
GPU 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 (Gigabyte) 32 °C
- Storage:
238GB Samsung SSD 840 PRO Series (SATA (SSD)) 22 °C
931GB Western Digital WDC WD1003FBYX-01Y7B1 (SATA ) 24 °C
931GB Western Digital WDC WD1003FBYX-01Y7B1 (SATA ) 24 °C
-Optical Drives: HL-DT-ST BD-RE BH16NS40
- Audio: Realtek High Definition Audio

If I'd try to increase the RAM until 32GB (but Mobo can go until 64GB DDR3) and change my GPU with one very good that I can use also in a newer configuration later, could be enough? Or I really need another PC? In this case suggestions?

Thank you all.
Bye.

Solution
Hi guys,
I look around and the problem of the GPU is quite hard to pass, but I think I really need to change mine.
I tried all your configurations and suggestions and finally I got two solutions:

1. DELL ALIENWARE.
I tried two setup:
a. cheaper, based on 5800x and 3060 ti. Less powerful but I can push with the PSU until 1000w (is it a good choice?) and playing a bit with the options without overbudget
https://www.dell.com/it-it/shop/gam...rationid=9022242d-9a5e-4ac7-9733-4fe045c6264a
b. more power but more expensive. To keep it low I put a PSU of 500w and I can't do much more...
Something like this to save a bit of money and not have to wait for "pre-order" parts to get the build sooner.

I wouldn't use a consumer AMD graphics card for this since OP is using Adobe Premiere Pro. No AMD consumer card is on their recommend GPU list. You can use consumer nVidia though.

True, I wasn't paying attention. I was just looking at vRAM. Good catch. It can be replaced by a 3060-3080. The website is very easily customizable.
The nice part is dropping to a 3060 saves money that can be used on a 2nd NVMe SSD. I'd go with one of the PCIe 4 drives due to endurance and top end speed. If I remember correctly, this is a disk intensive process. Having faster drives will make the whole process faster.

In both case I put one 1TB SSD NVME M.2 and 2TB HDD 7200. What do you think? An idea could be to buy separately a 500GB SSD where to move the OS, using the 1TB M.2 for project, media, scratch and cache and the 2TB for storage and archive... Do i need to do it or I can use what I have?

2. ANKERMANN configuration.

This is the best I could do. Suggestions?

TY very much guys.

That configuration with a 500W PSU is a bit scary. Having a 5900X & RTX 3070 on a 500W PSU seems a bit problematic. The one with the 5800X is going to be much faster than your current setup. The Ankermann configuration doesn't have a GPU in it so that is problematic, unless you are going to use your old GPU until things get cheaper.

Overall you can do much better for yourself by building it yourself and using your current GPU until prices come down. Here is an example of what you can get minus a GPU if you were to build it yourself.

Here you have the 12c/24t Zen 3 CPU with a massive cooler to keep it nice a cool. You are getting 64GB RAM which can be extended to 128GB if you ever wanted to do that. The 1TB SSD is your OS and Application drive and the 2TB is your scratch files and working drive. The dual 4TB HDDs are great for archival storage and a place to move projects once they are completed. Putting them in a RAID1 configuration will give redundancy. The case is an excellent case that has good airflow. The PSU is better than what you would get from Dell and has enough juice to allow for large GPUs in the future.

Doing that leaves you with several hundred Euro to be able to get a GPU when prices finally come back to reality. Even adding an RTX 3070 to this would put it at less money (albeit when GPU prices are normal) than the build at the top of your budget, all while having superior components.

Thanks guys,
Ankermann configuration had a 3060 on it but at 700euros that is probably crazy.
I think I will do as you suggest.
My only matter is to use my GPU gtx 770 with 2gb of vram on it. I'm a little bit worried. I will try.
Now the biggest problem will be choose between all your wonderful and powerful built suggestions :)
About storage...
I think I don't need 1tb for os and applications. Probably 500gb is ok. Now I'm ok with 250gb..
Maybe:
  • 500gb os and programs
  • 2tb working drive
  • 1x 4tb internal storage and backup
  • external solutions for definitive archive of finished projects

What do you think about it?

You two are the best. I have to send you some italian hardware, like wine or food :)

Something like this is really, really nice for your use case. If you want a 500gb main nvme drive its still like 60-70% the cost of a 1tb for one of the same brand and make. I think that 1tb will serve you much better in the long run with this system. Putting those HDDs in raid is also really the safe choice for your long term storage. A gen 4 working drive will also make things considerably faster. Wait out the GPU shortage for a 3060 or a potential 3070 20 gb or 3070 ti 20gb later down the line if those higher Vram cards ever come out.

Hi everybody,

I finally found my money for my new workstation.
Do you have any new and update suggestions for the configuration or I should go with one of you wrote me before?
Which one should I pick? ;)

Thank you!

Normally I would have recommended the Ryzen 5000 Series especially for Premier Pro, however, in Version 0.92 of the Puget Systems benchmarks we see that the performance difference between the 3800XT & 5800X is all of 6%. That means the difference will be maybe 10% against the 3700X but the 3700X costs less than half as much as the 5800X. https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/a...o-AMD-Ryzen-5000-Series-CPU-Performance-1960/ Based on current pricing here is what I would recommend.

Cool!
Would be the other components ok also with a Ryzen 5900?

Cool!
Would be the other components ok also with a Ryzen 5900?
The 5900 would work just fine here as well. The biggest issue is the added cost of going to the 5900 right now. According to the pugetbench you might get an additional 20% performance going to the 5900X from the 3700X, that comes at 3x the price (E289 vs E862). On the price/performance scale that isn't worth the added cost. Now if that 20% performance increase means you can render 2 jobs a day instead of 1 then it could be worth the investment. If you do decide to go with the 3700X, you can get a good quality air cooler instead to save money. Something like the Be Quiet Shadow Rock 3 will provide more than enough cooling and still be OK for a 105W TDP processor. The AIO listed for cooling is ideal for the 105W TDP chips as it will keep them very cool. Reason is the Ryzen's pull up to 142W and your cooler ideally should have at ;east 1.5x the cooling potential of the max TDP. The Shadow Rock 3 is a 190W cooler so the 105W TDP Ryzens will still be cooled, but under heavy load the temp will be higher than the Liquid Freezer II.

Hi guys,

I'm following your suggestions and I tried to do my build (without gpu).
5900x price is going down now. At this price I will wait more and maybe I could take it later (which price could be reasonnable for the 5900x?). Otherwise I will probably go on 3900x.
Do you see any problem on it? What do you think?
About case I really don't know. Another user told me about this one. (The Fractal one has a USB-C connector in the front panel that is not working with the mobo.) Any other suggestions or it's all right?

Thanks!

About case I really don't know. Another user told me about this one. (The Fractal one has a USB-C connector in the front panel that is not working with the mobo.) Any other suggestions or it's all right?

Thanks!

Looks like a killer build that will last you a long time for Premier Pro.

Someone told me the only problem will be where to put the radiator of the cooler.
They told me the only place for the radiator will be in the front part, but it's not a good choice cause it stops the air flux of the case.
Actually the cooler is the only part I have bought before cause it was a deal and it's in my house.
Any suggestion about that?
Should I return it and buy a smaller one?
Are there other places to put the radiator?

Thanks for the help!

The case should not be too much of an issue because it supports a 360 rad. If you are concerned and want to top mount it you can get a different case that better accommodates the parts.

Actually the case I choose support only 240 cooler on top. I don't know if there's another way to mount it...
I have two options:
a. I will stay with the 360 and choose the silent 601 case
b. I return the 360, I buy the 240 and stay with the case I choose. In this way I save 70€...
What would you do? Do you know any other good case for 360?

This is an older case and it is quite large but this supports 360mm AIO's on top. https://www.amazon.it/dp/B00WGFVO8E?tag=pcp06-21&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1

With all that storage you might want to consider the X570, more PCIe lanes to handle all that storage traffic ;)

While the extra PCIe lanes are nice, the traffic will be minimal. The most consistent use of storage will be the 2TB SSD when projects are being worked on. The 1TB SSD is for OS/Applications and the HDDs are for storing projects after completion so the storage traffic is minimal on those areas. Realistically most desktops are not storage bandwidth/lanes limited unlike what can happen in a data center. If you are using an HDD instead of SSD for your primary storage then you can be disk limited, but that is different than bandwidth limited.

I found an image of that specific case with a 360mm rad top mounted.

Thanks! It is the one I was considering, but finally I decided to return the 360 and save money for other stuff... I took the 240 that fit perfectly in the be quiet! 500.

Yesterday night I finally bought almost everything of my build. I made some changes.
Here is my shopping:

CPU: Probably 5900x. Price is going down, now is at 605€. I'm waiting a bit more and I'm buying it.
GPU: who knows... wait and hope. I'm checking if I could find some used one of at least 4gb vram and wait for reasonable price for the rtx 3000 series.

As you see I decided to:
  • take a x750 mobo (before to read @ocer9999 but thanks! He read my mind :) ): it was just 20 euros more than the Asus b550, then I took it
  • sabrent rocket 512GB instead of the 1TB crucial: it's enough space for OS and programs but better and faster SSD
  • For now I'm waiting for the storage RAID. Someone told me it's better don't do RAID (it's software, not hardware and so it'consuming) and backup inside the PC, but outside. I'm thinking about it. I have time. For now it's good. Maybe I can take another SSD or a single HDD for documents/storage/ecc... and using external solutions for backup. (suggestions?)

What do you think about it? I'm quite happy! Not so expensive but powerful. With the 5900x and hopefully a good GPU I think I can work good and fast.
