So I'm on the updating screen where you see the spinning circle and the 1%, 2% etc and nothing else. Can't bring up taskmanager or anything.

Is there anyway to cancel this and get back into windows? It's taking forever

How new is the PC? Is it installing onto an ssd or hdd?

IS this at shutdown or restart? Normally the 1st 30% of an update happens at shutdown and remainder at startup

Did you have the creators update before the update started? I only ask as if its taking forever and you didn't have an update in last few months that took about 40 minutes, this could be it... and would perhaps explain why its so slow

How long is it taking? I wouldn't restart during an update as that can only make things worse. I would just leave it and see if it gets anywhere in a few hours. Really depends on age of PC. Mums PC got the CU last night and took 2 hours to install it, its 9 years old. Other newer PC can get it in under 40 minutes.

If its the Creators...

If its the Creators Update then its a new version of windows 10 and not your standard little update.
