I was looking to upgrade my AMD 1600X chip but currently only have a ASUS PRIME 350M PLUS motherboard. To upgrade to say a 5600X I needed to update it.
I found the correct new BIOS version downloaded it, ran the renamer program on it.
This gave me a file called PRB350PS.CAP. Copied this, rebooted and updated the bios.

However if I now look at Sysinfo the BIOS Version/Date says American Megatrends Inc 6042. 28/04/2022.

The notes on the ASUS page do say 6042

"1. Update AMD AM4 AGESA V2 PI 1.2.0.7.
2. Fix AMD fTPM issue causes random stuttering."

Just wondering why the name has changed and to making sure this is the right version before I buy a new CPU.

Thanks

Asus doesn't make their own bios chips but use American Megatrends Inc like many others.
they do customize the bios/uefi based on their mainboard but basic chip is still from AMI

Nothing to worry there.

mine says
BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 4403, 28/04/2022
