Hi all,

I recently installed an update to my bios and chipset from Dells official website because I figured it would be a good idea to update to the latest. I was running A01 and installed A10 for BIOS. I installed the chipset and BIOS update in Windows and restarted the computer. Now when I try to boot it up, after seeing the Alienware words at start up, I get stuck on a black screen with a flashing mouse that is movable (the mouse flashes busy and not busy...). When on the black screen I tried pressing CTRL and typing in my password but that doesn't work. I can get into the BIOS when I press F2 at startup but I am not sure what to do to get the computer to actually boot to Windows. If anyone can offer any assistance it would be greatly appreciated.

1| It's never a good idea to make a leap update to your BIOS since a lot can and will go wrong amidst the update.

2| Your post reads out as though you're on Windows 10. If so, it often happens when the OS doesn't like in minor changes. For this reason I'd suggest removing the CMOS battery for at least 15 minutes before replacing it and see if it boots up.

3| Speaking of Windows 10, is this an installation off the free upgrade path or a licence key?

4| You may want to break out an older OS's boot disk to recover your installation as it's almost inevitable that you may have to reinstall your OS. On another note, can you get into Safe Mode?

5| If you can get into BIOS, you should make sure that Fast Boot is enabled.
