Hey again chaps!
I recently posted about upgrading my PC, as it was old, I got some epic responses and ended up upgrading.

My current specs are:

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor
Motherboard: Gigabyte - GA-AB350-GAMING 3 ATX
Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory
GTX 980 Ti Xtreme
240gb Kingston SSD
(And some other pieces that are not connected at the moment)

The CPU, RAM and MOBO are all new

So here are my issues...
Computer boots and will go into BIOS without issues. BIOS has been updated to latest version, F6.
When the PC boots into windows 7(windows that was on my old build) it loads up, and after around 10 seconds of sitting on the desktop, it BSOD, and reboots. I couldn't see what the BSOD says, as it is too fast, so I had to record it on my mobile and slow it down.... The BSOD is on screen for around 1/4 of a second "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION"

So, next step was to boot into safe mode. The PC has sat there for 10 minutes before a manual reboot, which is great, but this was when I also realised that after the BIOS splash screen, all USB ports stop working, and won't work in windows. I've never come across this before, so I am confused... As soon as windows takes over, they stop working

I also tried to reinstall windows on the SSD, but without any USB power, I can't go through the options, and can't do anything windows based.

Can anyone throw any suggestions my way?

Thanks guys

[EDIT] I've tried swapping around the RAM config in all ways, and no change, apart from windows takes a little longer to boot with 8gb

I've unplugged everything external apart from monitor, and same scenario...

Solution
I did some googling, and it seems that people have this issue before, the answer for them was using a PS/2 mouse. So, I ended up picking up a Ps/2 mouse and tring that. It worked, so to get through the initial setup I used the on screen keyboard, and got into Windows
Installed the drivers on the CD and USB is now up and working, as well as windows behaving as far as I can tell.
Now installing every driver under the sun, and the backlog of Windows updates. Woot

If I've read your post correctly, you just installed your old boot drive into the new system. That's likely a possible cause of problem there if you're trying to boot from that old installation.

It's recommended to fresh install Windows especially with a motherboard change. (I've had previous; it wouldn't even boot.) But then it will depend what sort of licence you have for Windows 7. If OEM, then you'll need a new OS.

So I roughly rebuilt the old system, and installed a fresh windows on the SSD, to the point of "setting up for first use"

Rebuilt the new system and all USB ports still do not work. They stop working as soon as the "set up windows" screen appears.

On the back of that mobo there is only 1 port that will work with win 7 usb1.1/2.0 all the others dont have drivers as they are 3.0 try find the 1 port that works.

Is there an option in bios to enable legacy devices?

Does Windows boot now after a fresh installation on the new system? (You mentioned building the old one.) If it does, then that's progress of a sort.

The next thing would be to sort out the driver situation. As you'd know, Microsoft don't support Windows 7 and USB 3 standards aren't officially available from them (at least as far as I'm aware). You mention updating BIOS but no mention of updating the drivers from Gigabyte themselves:

There's a chipset driver package for Windows 7. As you haven't mentioned it I can't assume one way or the other whether you've tried this or not. If you have, then you may need to contact Gigabyte for further support as Ryzen is still fairly new.
