(one with a little stand that can sit in front of or behind a keyboard (can't use one of those bigger mics, not enough room on the desk).

Any suggestions on a good one, max I can pay for one at the moment is $40.

If you're looking for something long lasting get headphones and a separate microphone. Personally I haven't done this yet but I plan on doing it once my current headset breaks... which brings me to my other recommendation.
I know you say you don't like the headphones that "hug your ears" but hear me out
Currently I use Turtle Beach PX22's (inb4 wow turtle beach is garbage)
I have to say this is the best headset I've ever owned. The logitech G430 is nowhere near the quality of these. I had actually bought a pair of logitech G430s after my last PX22 headset broke (It's only the headband so I just had to purchase the headset part for a lower price) and I actually couldn't even bare to use them and had to return them. Great. Great. Headset. Microphone isn't too bad either and it has a nifty little voice playback feature that lets your hear yourself without any delay as you speak so it almost sounds as if you're not wearing a headset which, in my opinion, is my favorite feature.
I've bought maybe 3 / 4 of these headsets throughout the past 3 or so years. This headset has a mixer for bass and treble and plenty of volume
So I would say for a safe bet go for the Turtlebeach PX22s and you'll have plenty of time to gather other people's recommendations first hand in game.
The keyboard you put up looks fine you should probably buy that one.
For a mouse, I use a regular razer deathadder. It's a really decent mouse but I wouldn't recommend buying it as it's a bit too overpriced. In fact I would recommend staying away from most razer products.
I got carried away.

TL;DR Turtle Beach PX22 is a quality over ear headset that works on both PC and console. Great sound quality. Plenty of volume. Not so great durability.

As for the headphones, the main reason I can't wear the one's the "hug your ears" (for lack of a better way to put it) is 1) they hurt my ears, and 2 they seem to seem to cause me to have vertigo (doctors say that's what causes it) as do the ear buds. I could use one of those type of mics, any suggestions on those. (Please note they can't be to pricey ($40 at the max for the moment).
