The i3 will out perform the 6300 in many games because of single core performance. I would go with something like this

I probably should have mentioned this will be my first time building a computer, so I would really rather not jump into overclocking right away, I'd really rather not if I don't need to, sorry!

If you raised your budget to about 750$, you could even get an i5. That would be ideal, but its up to you. I wouldn't get a water cooler, to OC a 6300, but you will have to to keep up with games...

Don't waste money on an h55 when a 212 EVO is better for 1/2 the price.

I would get an i3 over a 6300 for sure.

I agree as well. Intel i3 is a little bit cheaper, and the 212 is also better for a lesser cost. Completely agree

Don't get a 212 EVO if you get an i3. No need for an aftermarket cooler on an i3.

Alright, sweet. Thanks everyone! Seems like what I'll do is go with the i3, and I agree there's not reason to overclock if I don't have to. If I can afford it, I'll go with the i5, but more likely than not the i3 and then later upgrade to the i5 if I want/can.
