Question Updates messed my laptop up .

Hey guys . I updated my laptop with a new windows update about 30 minutes ago and as a result whenever I open a program that program will open up to 30 windows of itself and bring my CPU usage to 100%.

It's freaking insane. Any idea how to fix this?

Hey there,

We need a bit more info. Which make and model laptop do you have? Was the update standard update, or the OS update which rolled out last month?

Check task manager and see what's hogging your CPU.

Are al system drivers and bios up to date?

Asus TUF Dash F15 516 3070/Quad Core. 2021 model.

No idea on the update. I can't use any app for more than 15 - 30 seconds before so many duplicate windows are open that the cpu bogs down.

I do know the update can't be more then a day old because I game on it so much. And I use a gaming keyboard - usb and no keys are stuck at all.

I also scanned for viruses on both AVG and windows security.

Windows security did not create duplicate windows.

unplug the gaming keyboard. see if you still have issue

Look in Update History for failed or problem updates.

Look in Reliability History/Monitor for error codes warnings, or even informational events that began after the update.

It did infact say the update failed to install correctly. Retrying now.

2024-01 Security Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5034441)

Error Downloading - Can't Install. This must be my issue.

Well apparently the above update was meant to fix the previous 2024-01 update but said update is already installed and causing the issues in having. Just Uninstalled the old update and rebooted the laptop. Well see how it goes.

I uninstalled all updates that were installed between 1/8/24 and 1/10/24 was I was tinkering and it has fixed the problem.
