updates searching problem

so i just reset my pc and i have been searching for updates for about 30-45 min now im not sure if this is normal for a first time install but please someone tell me why its taking so long

It depends on the speed of your internet connection, obviously slower connections it will take proportionally longer.

My speed (ordinary copper line and long distance) is too slow to support automatic updates so I always disable them, always have done for the past 20 years. They can often screw Windows up anyway - - who needs that?

Mind you, I always have top-notch third-party security software installed.
