Hello. So I’ve tried everything to get my computer up and running after <Mod Edit> it up trying to update bios. I have a ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO. I have tried everything. Left the battery out for awhile, held down the clear cmos button, tried to flashback or whatever it’s called with new and old versions of bios. Nothing seems to fix my issue.

Post trying to update. My computer never turned back on properly. It boots up. Everything spins and lights up. I’m now getting 00 code with a red light indicating cpu issue. And then it turns off itself. Turns back on. Repeats. Turns on for about a few second. No sort of post happens. Then it just restarts itself. Looking for anything I can try if anyone has anything that for sure will work. Idk how I can figure out if it’s cpu or motherboard for sure.

I did try to turn on the computer without the cpu to see if it still does the same thing. In that situation the computer actually seemed to run longer than when it constantly restarts. And I turned it off once I realized it wasn’t gonna restart in that state. Tried reporting on the cpu and it goes back to the same constant start up and restart.

Idk if there’s anything anyone can offer me to try, but I’ll try anything. I don’t have access to a another compatible cpu or motherboard at this exact moment to test cpu on a different motherboard or vice versa. Anything recommendations on what I can do to try that I haven’t would mean the world to me. Thanks.

EDIT: full system

Strip everything down to just the CPU and just one stick of RAM.

Try using the BIOS Flashback feature detailed on page 2-28 of the manual in order to upload your last known working BIOS version: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/...ERO_UM_V3_WEB.pdf?model=ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO

I recently had this issue on a different motherboard and it turns out the BIOS update nuked the support for the RAM. Not saying this is your issue, but something to consider.

00 is cpu not detected
could be bent pins or too much cooler mounting pressure or cpu is damaged
Well it’s not a new build cpu has been detected for months until today when I went to update bios and now it’s undetected. I didn’t remove or change anything with the components when prior to updating so there’s no bent pins or mounting issues.

I did try to bios flashback with the newer bios and even tried to do it with the oldest bios on the support site and well and nothing changed. They each do what happens when I try to turn it on normally. But when doing flashback it goes through the cycle of flashing and then when it turns on it just go back to being on for about 10 seconds and then self restarting with no post happening. Like I said the weird thing to me is that with cpu installed it goes through this cycle of trying to turn post, failing, self restarting in that cycle. But if I turn on the computer without the cpu it obviously doesn’t work however the computer doesn’t self restart. It just runs with no post or anything since there’s no cpu.
