Question Updating bios

I have never upgraded my motherboard and cpu, I’m planning to to so once my new components arrive.

Currently I’m running an amd fx6300 cpu and a msi 970 motherboard

I’m going to be upgrading to a Ryzen 5 2600x cpu and a msi b450 tomahawk motherboard

I’m Wondering if that once everything is all connected and I first boot up the pc everything will be good to go or if I need to update the bios beforehand?

you dont need to upgrade the bios. I just built a ryzen 2600x system with a b450 rog f gaming mobo. everything is running great. so i dont think you will need a bios update. i read somewhere if you buy anything below a 450 you will probably need to update the bios. hope it helps. ltr

As stated above the Tomahawk B450 will not need a BIOS update to run the Ryzen 5 2600x.
But, once you get it up and running if you have issues you should check the MSI support forums and see if a newer BIOS version will help.
