Hey all,
I wanted to update my win 7 pro to windows 10. But so far my attempts to update have all failed. I've never upgraded an OS before so I'm so I don't know what's going wrong, whether it's me or it's an issue with the computer.

I first tried to update using the MediaCreationTool from Microsoft but I got an error message when I tried (screenshot HERE).

So I downloaded the MediaCreationTool onto another computer (OS is Win 8.1) and used the MediaCreationTool software to put the update onto a 16GB USB.
I disconnected all my hard drives except the one containing the OS. I inserted the USB into one of the motherboard's USB ports and in the BIOS changed the boot order to the USB (the USB was showing in the BIOS so I know it was being detected). But my computer just loaded from the OS hard drive.

Can anyone help me, please?

Here are some of my PC specs are:
OS: Windows 7 Professional x64 bit
Motherboard: Asus Rampage V Extreme (BIOS version: 4101)
CPU: Core i7 5960X
RAM: 8x 16GB DDR4 RAM Corsair Dominators Platinum 3000 MHz (CMD16GX4M2B3000C15)
OS drive: 2TB HDD

you probably don't want this anyway as it might mess up the install process. Better to have it as it was.

if you want to boot off USB, put USB in pc at startup,
go into bios and go to advanced/boot menu
scroll down to Boot override
pick USB from list and PC should boot from USB on restart

you can use your win 7 key to install win 10.
