Updating Gigabyte Bios

Hi, Having a great deal of trouble getting my Gigabyte Bios updated.
Currently I'm using a P35C-DS3R board and the Bios is at F4. I am trying to get it up to F12. I have made a USB bootable flash drive and I have downloaded the Bios update from the Gigabyte website under the board details and I extract the file onto the USB stick and reboot.
Then using the QFlash option with the End key in the start up I enter the Bios QFlash interface and choose update Bios. I see the USB flash drive and when I choose it there are no files on it.

I have tried multipal times to do this and everytime there is never any files on the flash drive But when I boot the computer in to Windows I am able to see the files on the drive.

Running Windows 7 64bit

Any help I would really appreciate.

Hi, you know the old saying, don't fix it, if it ain't broke. If your PC is running fine DO NOT update the bios, doing so could cause more harm than good

I agree but for the processor and video card I have in it it's recommended on the Gigabyte website to have F12 for the Bios version. Also I am have a great deal of trouble overclocking and this is also being caused by the out of date Bios.

This is a need to update situation.

Use gigabytes @bios utility to flash the bios, also make what revision of that motherboard do you have?

OK I have heard the @Bios utility is a bad utility to use but I'm willing to try anything at this point.
The next question I don't understand what you are asking? Revision? it's currently at F4 if thats what you are asking.

"OK I have heard the @Bios utility is a bad utility to use but I'm willing to try anything at this point" I've used it with my Gigabyte boards i had, if it was bad, Gigabyte would not have bundled it with their motherboards.

Revision? it's currently at F4 if thats what you are asking" revision meaning, P35C-DS3R rev. 2.0, rev. 1.x, rev. 2.1, the revision of your board are printed on the bottom left hand corner, tell me what yours are. And if you want to use Q-Flash, make sure your Flash drive is no larger than 8GB and formatted with the FAT32 File system.

P35C-DS3R rev. 2.0, and the USB drive is formatted in Fat32 and is only 2gb. I used CMD prompt to format it to a bootable Fat32 drive.

Okay download the F12 bios from here > http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2631#bios and try again.

OK so I have no idea why it worked this time and not the others but I was able to update the Bios from the link you provided.

You probably downloaded the F12 bios from the rev 2.1 or 1.0 board and that should have been the reason because the motherboards bios did not recognize that bios even though its the same version. Remember to reload the optimized or bios defaults, save changes and exit
