Hello,

I have a lot of data for my video game and alot of studying material on my hard drive i want to change my motherboard from this piece of crap Foxconn 2ADA to a Gigabyte B75M-D3H as i'm about to start my bachelor degree in game programming and i will need to upgrade my graphic card which this motherboard doesn't even have bios updates is there anyway i can keep my harddrives data without reinstalling the os? I also have a Icore 7 3770 if that helps in anyway.

Motherboard upgrades typically require a Windows reinstall. I wouldn't be surprised if you ran in to issues without reimaging. Even if it appears stable, performance could suffer a bit.

That being said, you don't have to wipe the drive to reinstall. You will need to reinstall applications, but you can keep your personal data. The options to do so are in the installer.

I have another windows 7 hard drive(but it's only 500gb) could i use that as the fresh install and keep my other data? or should i just buy a hard drive and copy over what i need saved i have alot of software for programming that i don't want to reinstall but it wouldn't be hard what would be the best solution for performance wise?

Hello... Yes, using a new harddrive for the New MB is best. Install and Copy Data from to...
Windows compiles a hardware/driver file. The best results i've seen is to Boot with the New MB, and then un-install all MB related drivers and install new ones... and reboot.

Thank you guys for your fast replies, I will differently try that out it sounds pretty easy hopefully everything goes well.

I about to purchase a new graphic card, power supply and a cpu cooler for my Gigabyte B75M-D3H i have around $500 AUS to spend looking to buy from pccasegear just wondering what would be the best for my buck? i have a ICore-7 3770 something that would run games better than what i have now which is a Intel HD4000 (which isn't to bad for a cpu graphic card) and will be enough for my bachelor degree in game programming i asked the teacher he said a gtx 750TI would be fine but if i can get a better one for around the same $$ that would be great.

Kind regards,
