I`ve got the original issued BIOS *AO4* and am going to (floppy format)
update to the most recent *A23* BIOS, following Dell`s instructions on their
support pages.

Is this considered safe/acceptable to jump this far ahead to the most recent
BIOS?
I realize this most recent revision (A23) will include the cumalative fixes
from all the previous releases.

I`m about to upgrade my original 10GB 4200RPM ATA66 Hard Drive with
something more acceptable like a 40GB 7200RPM ATA100, and was advised I
should FIRST update to the latest BIOS revision !!!

Thanks,
Matt

Sure, as long as the BIOS update is specified for your computer, you follow
Dell's installation instructions carefully, and you have a UPS.

"...was advised I should FIRST update to the latest BIOS revision !!!"
That was very good advice. Sounds like you'll do fine.

I went from A04 to A21 without any problems. Be sure to use the floppy
method!
