Updating RAM to 4GB DDR3

Hi,
I am having PC with dual core processor E5200, 2.5 GHz , and 1 GB DDR2 RAM .
I want to update my RAM . Can I update it to 4 GB DDR3 ??

of course you can
if you upgrade your system too, buddy.

if not? then you have to upgrade to DDR2 instead of DDR3
that is because DDR2 and DDR3 have perfectly DIFFERENT Slots

means that if you want to use DDR3 then you have to sell your old system and build new system based on motherboard which support DDR3 memory

if you have limited budget, go with DDR3
if money isnt problem, go with DDR4, its much more upgradable in future

its based on your OS /operating system
if you use 32/84x then max ram is 4GB
but if u use 64x OS, your max is 192GB
if you have more budget, pick corsair. its good ram company, better model. but expnsv
if there's budget limit, pick g.skill/crucial. its same, but cheaper,, and sucks model

What memory slots does your board feature?
If it has slots for DDR3 then you can use DDR3, if not you are limited to DDR2.
In most cases you would be limited to 8 GB, some boards top out on as low as 4 GB. It depends on the chipset.
But even if you board has slots for both you can only use one of them at a time.
And DDR3 would offer basically no performance increase over DDR2.

So if you're already on 4 GB just keep it as it is. If not it might be easier to just pick up additional memory used.
The best solution, if money is not an issue on that point, a complete platform upgrade would be the best choice.
