updating to DX12

If I replace the older (AMD) video card in my Asrock X58 MB with a newer (DX12) graphics card, probably Nvidia, should I be able to play most of the latest video games.

There are too many variables here, you need to be specific. Which games are you talking about? What are the specs of the rest of your system? How old is your current videocard?
