Hi folks. I'm the 'network admin' for my house, which has Windows PCs and Apple devices. We're on TimeWarner with average 200Mbps (http://www.speedtest.net/result/4678045056.png). The speed was a 'free' boost from time warner due to Google fiber and Uverse coming into our area.

I've got an old Netgear FVS338 that has served me well for 10 years. But, it's limit is 90Mbps. I've got a Linksys EA4500 that I've only had to reboot one or twice, that has a limit of 450Mbps.

I'm looking advice on a wired 8-port router replacement with gigabit abilities. I've been searching the net for reviews. I keep coming up with switches that are great. But, I need/ want the ability to configure my LAN for various requirements.

Thank for any wisdoms!

Ian

Not many 8 port routers, most are 4-5. Plugging a switch into a router just gives you more ports and there is nothing you can't do with your LAN requirements with a switch hooked up to the router.
