I built this PC in November 2011:

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1

AMD Athlon II X3 450 Rana 45nm Technology

8GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 801MHz (9-9-9-24)

ASRock 770 Extreme3 (CPUSocket)

767MB GeForce GTX 460 (ASUStek Computer Inc)

298GB SAMSUNG HD322GJ ATA Device (SATA)

233GB Seagate ST3250620A ATA Device (PATA)

Optiarc DVD RW AD-7260S ATA Device - Realtek High Definition Audio Device

Now I'm about to go shopping to upgrade it, to play Planetside 2 with more enjoyment.

I did have a Sandisk 64GB SSD in there at one point, but it lasted about 4 months before it began having fatal errors, and I reverted back to my SATA drive for Windows and because of the lifespan was discouraged to replace it, despite all of the reasons why I purchased it in the first place.

I'm trying to get the most results for whatever money I decide to invest in this upgrade. So I'm ready to listen to all advice.

I suspect that I'll need a pretty thorough overhaul in order to get a big performance increase, motherboard, chipset, SSD, video card, and maybe even faster RAM.

The best answer to this post will let me know what the best hardware options are that have recently significantly dropped in price, and perhaps also hardware that notably performs best when used in combination with each other.

Thanks

PS- I've got plenty of power in there, it's a 650W supply of a brand that I've forgotten, and plenty of room in a midsized tower.

AMD A10-5800K Trinity Quad-Core 3.8GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 100W AD580KWOHJBOX Desktop APU (CPU + GPU) with DirectX 11 Graphic AMD Radeon HD 7660D , http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=19-113-280

They're combining CPU with GPU now? I definitely need advice.

Would a Socket FM2 motherboard fit inside my tower, the one that currently has the motherboard I've mentioned above?

Is PCI Express 16x even still the standard slot for video cards these days?

How easy it is to fall behind
