How r u guys, hope you all fine :)

I want to upgrade my cpu, and I need your advice pls
My rig:
-AMD Phenom II x4 810 @ 3.4 (Physics score in 3dmark 11 : 4200)
-Mobo : GA-MA790XT-UD4P
-GPU : Sapphire 7850 OC 2GB (3dmark socre : 7200)
-RAM : 4GB (2x2) 1333MHz
-PSU : Coolermaster 500W (Not Extreme family)

I want to buy i5 3570k + GA-Z77 D3H, and later I'll upgrade RAM to 8GB

-I asked someone and he told me that the difference will not be huge if I didn't OC the i5 , is that right ?

-Is this PSU enough to OC the i5 to 3.8GHz at least?

Thanks in advance :)

The thing to do with a CPU is if your going to keep it for a long time is to start off using it at stock to see what improvement it makes over the old CPU , then as new games come out along with new technology you can start to over clock to maintain performance. Once you reach the over clock limit then you can start playing with the settings and resolution. Eventually it will be time for another upgrade but by then you will have made the parts last a few years.

I think you can make the i5-3570k last at least two years and maybe more depending on the games. Keep in mind that game developers are in the business of making money and there not there to make games for super high end machines , they would go broke. So there focus is to have...

This is a Hierarchy Chart that gives you the order of ranking for gaming CPUs. You will notice that the i5-3570k from Intel is at the top of the list while the AMD CPU that you have is way down on the AMD side, so whoever told you that you had to overclock the i5-3570k to notice a difference was wrong.
You can overclock the i5 if you want but just by changing to that CPU will make a huge difference. Currently the i5-3570k competes with the FX-8350.

What it the overall purpose or use of your computer ?

Thanks inzone for your response

- I use the computer for games and some programs like AUTOCAD,office and programming , and to be honest I almost max out every game except Crysis3 (High + 2x MSAA), but I just feel it's time to change to be able to play the coming games.

- Do I need to change PSU to be able to OC the i5-3570k ?

- How much increase in FPS can I expect from this upgrade ?

Because you use the computer for games mostly , you will benefit from a video card change more then a CPU change. Your FPS will be increased more by a video card change, you currently have the 7850 and you could go to the 7950 or 7970 on the AMD side or the GTX 770 , GTX 780 or the GTX 760.

This is a graphics card chart to give you an idea of the rankings of the cards. Are you working with a budget amount for this upgrade ? I'm pretty sure that you will notice a gain in FPS with a video card upgrade , however you also should do the CPU as well so you could schedule a gradual upgrade over a period of time if your funds are limited but let me know and we can go from there.

I'm 100% with what you said, but I upgraded the gpu 5 months ago, so I think I'll stick with it for now.
That's why I want to upgrade to a powerful CPU, to be sure that when I want to upgrade to a high-end card, the cpu will not be a problem then.

I just want to know how long the i5 3570k will stand

So there focus is to have as many people as possible able to play their games and there are a lot of people out there with old equipment with the money to spend on a new game.

When buying a game you'll notice different levels of recommended equipment, minimum , recommended and high quality so that means that a wide audience will get to purchase and play that game. As long as your willing to make adjustments you can make the CPU last quite a while.

Solution
Thanks again, I really appreciate your help
So, I think I'll go for i5 3570k + GA-Z77-D3H + G-Skill Ripjaws-X 8GB (2x4) 1600Mhz 1.5v for now, and go for a gpu when I have the funds.
Is there any thing I can get better than that in the same range ?

You can do that , just make a plan on what you want to upgrade and when you want to try and do each step. Lay out the parts you want to get for your computer and each time you get the funds you make the upgrade. This way you actually get to see what each part does for an improvement.

When it's time to consider the video card you will need to pay attention to the recommended power supply that will be listed in the details of the card. Some say a 550w or 600w power supply is needed and others will say a 500w, it all depends on the card.

Ofcourse I'll change it with the card,
I want to know your opinion about what I wrote
i5 3570k + GA-Z77-D3H + G-Skill Ripjaws-X 8GB (2x4) 1600Mhz 1.5v is that good enough before changing the card
