Hello,

I need to replace my i7 7700k, since its busted. I'm looking into buying a i7 10700k or i9 9900k. But when i buy one of these, i also need to buy a new motherboard.

My current components:

RAM: CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 version 5.32.
GPU: MSI Geforce RTX 2080 super
Motherboard:
Fatal1ty Z270 Gaming K4

I've seen a motherboard like this : https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z490 Pro4/index.asp

The thing is, on most QVL lists, my RAM isnt on it. Is this a problem or will most RAM work anyway?

And any suggestions for CPU and/or motherboards paired with my current RAM?

Thanks for your advice!

Solution
Most DDR4 ram works fine in Intel. ryzen is a bit more finicky.
QVL lists reflect ram that was initially tested. The list may not get updated.
You can go to corsair and access their ram selection app and enter your motherboard.
Likely, you will find the kit supported.

As to upgrades, look to going current gen.
Intel 11th gen or ryzen 5000. The better ipc will serve you in most games.
My suggestion is i5-11400.
