Question Upgrade Advice

Hello,

I'm looking to upgrade my CPU and GPU and could use some advice. I'm looking to play games strictly on a 2K resolution with AAA games running comfortably over 60 FPS and competitive games that aren't so demanding (like League of Legends, Valorant, CS 2 etc.) over 144 FPS. Also mostly looking for raw performance not so much ray tracing. When looking for a GPU a lot of places recommend the 7800XT, but that seems a bit overkill since it's also mentioned as an entry level 4k GPU. I've also seen the 6800XT as an option or the 6750XT. The 7700XT also gives good performance at that resolution, so I'm not sure what would be best.
Regarding the CPU I really don't know since there are so many, just that I want to stay on AM4. My current setup:
CPU - Ryzen 5 16000FX
GPU - NVIDIA 2070 SUPER
Basically I'm looking for what would be the cheapest that can offer this performance.

Unless you plan on upgrading fairly regularly (every couple of generations or so) something in the 4070/SUPER or 7800 XT range would be the best choice if it's not out of your budget range.

Information as to what DRAM, motherboard and PSU you have will be needed to really give accurate advice in upgrades. If you predominantly game the 5600 is the best budget option and 5800X3D is the highest performance option. The 5800X is a decent middle ground if you need more cores for non gaming applications but don't want to spend more money and the 5950X is the highest multithreaded performance CPU available.

I'll mentioned, I do intend to build a new PC sometime in the next one or two years, so this is mostly a short term upgrade since I'm having trouble running new releases. Even something like Elden Ring which came out 2 years ago is not running at bellow 60. I only plan on gaming so high clock speed and single threaded performance is what I'm after. As for my other parts I have
16GB of DDR4 3000MHz
Asrock B450 Pro4
650 Watt 80+ Gold PSU

Personally I wouldn't use any of the 100W+ CPUs on that motherboard due to VRM, but it should support everything other than the just released 5700 (though it's not something you should be considering anyways) just the same.

Need the specific model of PSU, but if it's a decent one it should be okay.

DRAM is on the slow side for any of the non-X3D Zen 3 CPUs and you might need to consider some CL16 3600. An X3D CPU doesn't need as much memory bandwidth for good performance so you could probably get by with what you have for one of those.

Thanks for the advice, I looked into it and a Ryzen 5 5600 seems more than capable of running on my current system and give solid performance. As for the GPU still looking but something like an RX 6750 looks like a good price to performance card for 1440p.
