Need advice on a motherboard replacement. Presently have a Gigabyte MB with Athlon 64 X2 5400 cpu. It has suddenly refused to power up anymore and with a Gigabyte tech's "assistance", we've determined it is shot. I have a new Corsair TX 650w power supply, EVGA GeForce 8600GT pci-e video card (256mb), 2gb of DDR2 ram, Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 250gb SATA drive, and an Arctic Cooler 64 Freezer Pro.

Not a super gamer but do use graphic programs and AutCAD. Would love to be able to use most of my existing components and wondering if there is a decent MB and CPU combination to look at.

Budget- wise I don't know if I really want to be near $300. I was hoping for condiderably less, but if it doesn't make sense, I may need to rethink. Again, my goal is a solid system.

U can spend $55 and be where u are now, or spend more and get superb speed compare to what u have now. There are generations between that.
