Upgrade Advice

Hey all,

I'm looking at (finally) upgrading my gfx card. Shall I do it now? Wait on dx11? etc

My specs so far, and I appreciate the gfx card is the more bottleneck point of all this. I was canabalising it last time I built a pc about 12 months ago.

8800 gt amp edition.
Q6600 processor
8 Gig of RAM.
Maximus Formula 2 mobo.

I'd planned to upgrade a while back but the economy caught up with me.
What has inspired me now is my pc is making even mroe noise when playing games than it used to, infact enough noise from the gfx sounding like it's about to take off to give me mild earache over a prolonged gaming session. Well on the side of me the tower faces that is!

^ yes, wait for reviews of the new cards, then check prices and see if they're in your budget.

Ah excellent, I look forward to seeing some of the new cards then. I was thinking £150/$300 USD roughly max.

Been looking at GTX 295 and that's £400 but some of the older ones are alot cheaper. If I don;t go the new route I'm hoping for a price tumble in the coming weeks!
