Hi there,

I'm looking to upgrade my current system which consists of:

Case: Fractal Design R6
Mobo: X470 AORUS GAMING 7 WIFI
CPU: Ryzen 2700X
RAM: 4 x G.Skill Flare X AMD Series (3200 MHZ F4-3200C14-8GFX)
Cooler: Noctua NH-D15
GPU: Asus GeForce 1080ti Strix OC
PSU: Corsair RM750x

Storage (not in scope):
  • 2x3GB WD Red
  • 512GB NVME
  • 2 x 250GB SSD
My initial thought is it upgrade CPU to 5900x and at the same time add the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280 CPU Cooler - I'm debating whether to keep the Mobo or if I should go all in and also upgrade that and ram as well.

I also want to upgrade from 1080ti - but I'm not sure to what yet. When gaming I'm doing it on a asus 27" 144hz 1440p gsync screen. I looked at the 3080 - but it seems like it's really hard to get graphics cards at the moment.

I'm thinking there is no reason to touch PSU, Case and Storage for this but really everythign is up in the air ;-)

Let me know what you think?

I really don't think you need to upgrade your RAM. 3200 CL14 is really good.

Motherboard is your wish. If you can get stable bios update I don't see a reason to upgrade unless you want PCIe 4.0 drives

PSU should be fine for the 3080. And for 1440p144 I would definitely go for the 3080 or 6800XT. I don't think the CPU upgrade would do a very big difference especially at QHD but if you want to, I'm pretty sure a 5800X will suffice.
