I'm trying to install Adobe Audition (I have a CD and the serial number) The serial number is OK but the install stops with a window that says I need to update by browser and Operating System. Since Win 11 is probably 5+ more recent that this version of Adobe Audition 6, this isn't reallly something that can be done

What version of Audition is this?

Initial release was 2003.

Audition 6 is part of the CS6 suite. Unfortunately support ended with Windows 8.1 for this version.

Same problem happens with other CS6 apps on Win10 and 11. Only anomaly to this is Lightroom 6, but you need to have CC app logged in, running, and active.

Definitely try Compatibility Mode as @Lutfij states.

Postscript. Check out this forum thread re: PxHlpa64.sys. Might work for you - fingers crossed.

THANKS!! A lot of great things to try. I got the installer from a CD I put it on when I purchased it. I believe it was an upgrade since I had to give a serial number for my version 3.0

This is version 6 but is not one of the Creative Cloud stuff. It was a stand alone from before there was a monthly fee.

I also looked at the thread on PxHlpa64.sys. Since I don't have any CS programs not sure this applied to me. And it mentioned registry key starting with HKLM\SYSTEM and my registry editor all start with HKEY

(It's been a while since I've done registry work.

I tried to install my Audition Version 3 and it installed but needed to be activated and when that was tried, I got a message that the Activation Server is not available at this time. It was Error Code 17:17

"Error code 17:17 in Adobe products typically indicates an issue with activation, especially for older versions like CS3 and earlier. Adobe has discontinued the activation servers for these versions, making it impossible to activate them on new systems.

It appears you buy a license and then aren't allowed to use it!!

For some products, "lifetime" really means..."as long as we allow"

Activation servers for CS4 and older were turned off many years ago (roughly around 2017).

If you registered your Audition 6 serial with your Adobe account then you might be able to access it via CC.
