Upgrade bug biting

Hi. I'm running an Asus Z170-P D3 with an Intel i5 6600. I have 16gb of DDR3 and an Asus 980Ti video card. I started to feel my CPU could be upgraded and I was wondering if a new i5 or i7 is the solution. I hardly play games anymore but my daughter is a hardcore gamer. Since my current cpu is a skylake, is the new Kabylake ok or should I stay as is? I do not have any major complaints about my system outside the fact that sometimes it takes a few extra seconds to connect with some websites but that could be due to heavy traffic.

I don't think a new CPU is going to make any big difference.

I don't think the CPU would make much difference for websites and is still decent for gaming.
Have you ruled out some of the basics? :
- reset modem/router
- Run MalwareBytes (free) to rule out Malware
- Run Disk Cleanup and Disk Defrag
