Upgrade combo for gaming

If money is not super tight, and the primary use of this PC is going to be for gaming, I don't recommend going AMD. If you're going to be doing video editing, 3D rendering, workstation stuff, I would DEFINITELY steer you towards a Ryzen 7 2700X or something like that. In that type of environment, Ryzen absolutely rules in the "bang for the buck" category.

In gaming? My most heartfelt apologies to the AMD fans out there (I'm honestly one of them), but Intel rules this land. Check out any game benchmark site out there and compare the i7 9700k to the Ryzen 7 2700X. The 2700X won't win a single benchmark.

Not one.

I hope you don't mind if I pet my 9700K just a little...

Bein dead serious man. 9700K chip, 16gb DDR4 3200 (the sweet spot as far as ram goes for either platform if you ask me), and some SSD goodness...you'll be glad you did.

Nice, not just gaming, virtual machines, and some heavy work
