Upgrade cpu ?

So this is my setup of what should matter:
Processor: AMD FX6200 3.8 GHz
power supply: 650 watts
motherboard:- GA970a-d3p
graphics card: GeForce GTX 740 4GB ddr3

now i want to get the gtx 970 but my friend told me i would need to upgrade my processor.
i wanted to know if this was true.
if it is what other graphics card can i get that can run gta5, l4d, and other games of that sort and at least 720p 60+frames

Your processor has NOTHING to do with what GPU you can install, I don't know what your friend is talking about. That CPU is actually really good. Would go nice with the 970. For GTA 5 though, you may need a more powerful CPU to run on high to ultra.

If you just want mediumish settings and not crazy ultra settings your current system with the 970 will be perfectly fine.
