I want to upgrade my CPU because mine doesnt meet the requirements for win 11. I have a intel i7-5820k and was looking at the intel core i5-12400f it looks like the motherboard sockets are different though. I have a Alienware OXJKKD and it says the socket is LGA2011. The only thing ive ever updated is my video card so i dont really know what im doing. Is there a different CPU with the correct socket for a simular price or will i need a new mother board too. I do play games sometimes so recommendations for better CPUs that would work better are welcome.

Here is the list of CPUs from PCPartPicker showing compatible CPUs with the LGA2011 socket.

EDIT #1:
Also take a look at this post on the DELL site where someone had similar questions about the same setup:

You will need, at the very least, a new CPU/RAM/motherboard.

Now...the Alienware case and/or PSU may not be amenable to regular ATX parts.

So you're basically looking at a whole new system.

So i looked at a list another member sharwd with compatible cpus and i think your right about needing the whole new mother board and everything. About the case.. is there a easy way to know if i will need to get a whole new system?

Post a pic of your system, or preferably a link to it.
Alienware is notorious for proprietary case/PSU.

But even if it IS ATX compatible, you'll really need a new PSU anyway.

His case is a member of the Area 51 series and they are custom designed shells. According to the spec sheet, located HERE, it's an ATX motherboard inside but I'm betting it's custom fit somehow considering the size of that case.

There is a good pic of the case HERE.
