Upgrade, crossfire, or stay as is?

Solution
If you are happy with performance now I say wait. If you try to play games in the future that are more demanding and your 280x can no longer keep performance up to the level you want that is the time to upgrade. Who knows.... there might even be new, more powerful GPUs available from Nvidia and AMD by the time that day comes.

trying to buy computer components today that will be good for the future is a loosing battle. There are always more demanding games coming out and there are always more demanding components coming out to handle them. Your future proof card you buy to replace your 280x today might get destroyed by a card in the same price range 6 months from now. That's just the way technology works.

No one can really answer that for you. Are you happy with the performance of your 280x? Are you someone who has to have every single setting maxed or are you okay with turning a couple things down for 60 FPS? Are you comfortable with lower framerates? All of these are personal questions.

I personally don't mind turning some settings down to hold 60 FPS. Most of the time I don't even notice the change, especially if it's something like switching from 16X AA to 8X AA.

Some people just have to know that every single graphics slider is all the way to to the right even if they can't actually see the difference. I like to try to stick with my GPUs for at least 3 years but I have been known to upgrade early if my performance is starting to struggle. Only you can make this decision.

I mean the card is running games pretty fine and I'm okay with it. I really don't mind tuning down my settings for 60 fps. It's just that some of the newer games could be more demanding.

You're right. The new nvidia cards look sick.
