Upgrade Dell inspiron 6000 processor to what?

Would like to upgrade the processor in my Dell Inspiron 6000. Any suggestions? Also, with a better processor would I need to change the mother board as well?

Depending on motherboard, you could probably fit a cpu from a 6400 series...
