I bought 128 MB of reasonably expensive PC133 memory from Mushkin last year. This was the supposedly high-performance variety (Samsung G6), but I have had trouble running it at anything but 3-3-3. It seems that given the current state of memory prices, now is a good time to upgrade. The issue is whether to load up on gobs of cheaper PC133 memory to add to my stick of 128 MB, or just settle on perhaps 256 MB of high-quality CL2 memory. As you can see, the price difference is nearly 2x between CL3 and CL2 memory. I'm having trouble with the idea of buying faster memory because it just breaks my heart to toss away the memory I already have. Is CL2 really worth it? I do play games by the way.

Heh! I think we're all sort of in that boat, whether it's memory, video card.... Here's a link of some performance differences between CAS2 and CAS3. I know others have asked similar questions and there's probably more info floating around if you do a search.

From what I have heard,if you were to buy the 256mb cas2 and run it with your 128mb cas3 your memory timing would set itself to the lower value, therefore negating any performance gains from the faster ram.
