I recently bought an emachines EL1360G-UW12P desktop with an AMD E-300 dual-core processor. I'm wondering if I can upgrade the processor and motherboard to something powerful enough for gaming? Will I also have to upgrade the PSU if I do? What mobo cpu combo should I use? I'd prefer an overclockable AMD that I can get fairly cheaply (maybe on eBay or something)! Thanks!

Wow... I haven't heard of e-machines in years.

(1) CPU upgrade: sounds unlikely according to this: http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Bobcat/AMD-E%20Series%20E-300.html
The CPU is supposedly soldered onto the motherboard, so you won't be able to remove it (easily).

(2) As soon as you 'upgrade' a motherboard, it's the foundation of a new PC.

(3) Even if you add a graphics card to that system, you'd need a new PSU (the one in your system is only 220W). But the CPU is so weak (in comparison to modern CPUs), I doubt it would run many games released over the last few years (even this decade I would guess).

(4) As for motherboard and CPU combo, I'd suggest starting a new thread requesting build suggestions along with your needs and budget.

As it is, there's very little (nothing) you can do to make that PC (modern) game worthy. I'm sure most would recommend you build your own PC to match your needs.
