Upgrade fom q6600 to I7 920

Hello and good night,i just want to know how an i7 would improve my encoding times of videos (most of them are divx,h.264) over my current q6600 oc'ed to 3.0 ghz.
although in games i notice a tiny grain of rice improvement they perform almost the same at least to my 280 that is..

I have a Q6600 @ 3.4 and i was thinking the same before but i decided to wait because although i7 would be a faster option but i think a Q6600 @3.4 (or 3.0 in your case) is enough for encoding.
Also as you said,in gaming you won't see much of a difference since most games are GPU limited.

Of course if you overclocked the 920 you would see a substantial improvement.
