ok so my system is
FX-4350 OC
R7 260X
M5A97 LE R2.0-Mobo
8GB RAM
SSD+HDD
COOLERMASTER 212 EVO
and i think im going to be upgrading to
CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor (£143.98 @ Novatech)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97P-D3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£61.98 @ Amazon UK)
Video Card: PowerColor Radeon R9 390 8GB PCS+ Video Card (£248.63 @ More Computers)
Power Supply: XFX TS 750W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply (£64.94 @ CCL Computers)
Total: £519.53
If i wanted a better cpu what would be the next one up from the i5 4460?

Solution
I think you should consider the 4690k i5. It has a higher base clock and turbo frequency. It would complement the R9 390 well. It does cost a bit more but I think it is worth it.

Dont plan on overclocking the 4690k very far without a nicer board, however. It should support 4.2-4.5ghz if you do plan on overclocking in the future. Your current cooler should be able to handle those speeds well.

Thanks i was looking at that one aswell and even if my motherboard cant support that much OC it means if i do want higher speeds i only have to get a new motherboard rather than a new cpu

It is usually more worth it to do it right first than buy a bunch of parts over and over. Overclocking does not always yield amazing results so I would not worry about it too much. Grab the highest clocked CPU you can afford and call it a day.

For a CPU you probably want to go with something like a 4690k as firefoxx said but depends if you wanna OC. You could also upgrade to an i7 I guess but it will cost more and its probably not needed but it depends what type of stuff you do.
