I've recently gotten into working with Adobe After Effects(with some 3D rendering plug-ins) and Premiere Pro, both of which have been taxing my current system quite a bit. I haven't been playing very many modern games simply because I feel that my computer has gotten too out of date to play them very well.
I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card, and possibly my motherboard and RAM.
Currently my computer is running with an Evga nVidia 8800 GTX 768MB. I've been considering the ZOTAC GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 for an upgrade. Or would this 660 TI be better? I don't need an incredible card for the Adobe programs, but I would like it to be able to handle them much more effectively than my existing card.
From what I have gathered, I won't have to upgrade my motherboard unless I eventually decide to upgrade my RAM. I have an Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus motherboard and 2GB of DDR2 RAM. Will I need to upgrade my motherboard for a new graphics card?
This card seems like a great value, but would you have any suggestions for a different card for my system?
My processor is an Intel Q6600 quad-core 2.4 GHZ, I'm not too worried about that. My power supply is 1000w. 2x150 GB Western Digital HDs @ 10,000 RPM.
I use two monitors for display at 1920x1200 and 1680x1050. -Quick side question, are there any new displays like the Dell 2408 WFP? I like it because of the component input on the back of the monitor that I use for my consoles but it's been having a few vertical line issues while it is warming up. (Pretty sure it is out of warranty)
Thanks guys! Any help is really appreciated.
