Upgrade for GTX 560 2gb card

What is a solid upgrade for the broken Nvidia GeForce 560 2gb card? I was hoping to upgrade to 4gb card, but with compatibility issues I don't understand and motherboards and cpus, I really don't know what I can get unless it is an exact replacement.

I have:
an Asus M5A97 (that's what is on the board itself)
AMDfx 6100 six core processor and 16gb of ram

You should not really have any major concerns as far as compatibility goes. I would recommend a gtx 960 or 970.

if the 970 is too expensive but you still want a 4gb card grab a 290 for cheap right now.

I was hoping for less $500.00, so the 970 is great!
