So I have an I5-3570k that I want to upgrade. Can somebody point me in the right direction as to what I7 processor would be a good upgrade from the core I5 that I have? I mainly use my computer for gaming, with the new Watch Dogs game coming out, I want to make sure my PC will be able to handle it. To my understanding this game is going to require a lot of resources, some mentioning that it will need at the very least a quad core processor. Please base your recommendations off of non-overclocked processors for now, as my I5-3570k is not overclocked at the moment. All of your insight is much appreciated.

My Specs:
- Gigabyte GA-z77x-d3h
- Gigabyte GTX 770 OC 4GB
- Intel I5-3570k
- Corsair RM750
- Fractal Design Define R4
- 500GB Western Digital Red
- 120GB Samsung 840 SSD

Well first of all, your 3570k is still one of the best 4 or 5 cpus on the market in gaming so you certainly don't NEED to upgrade it, but if you insist, I recommend the Xeon e3-1230v2 or 1240v2.

If you upgrade to the i7 4770k you won't see any noticeable difference. In other words, you won't need to upgrade for a while. To experience some difference, you will want to buy an i7 4930k or even the i7 4960x
(but you will need a different mobo)

For the record, all of these use difference sockets

So basically it doesn't make sense to upgrade it then? If that's the case then great, saves me some money. Plus i'm not looking to buy a new mobo yet, so it seems unless I do that my options are pretty scarce and or not necessary. If anyone has other input please feel free to post, other than that it seems that upgrading my cpu would not be beneficial at this time.

Will I see noticeable difference with the 1240v2? Will it last me longer as far as future gaming capabilities go?

In your honest opinion, If you were me, would you buy it? (I don't use my computer for much except for gaming)

Just recently bought the gtx 770 and a new PSU, also have a SSD. At the moment I'd say I'm good in other areas. Hey thanks again for the honest feedback. You just saved me some money.

You only NEED to upgrade your CPU if it's holding you back, eg. limiting your fps in games because it's at 100% usage. I don't think that would be the case for any current game.

As for your question above; no, but I did! Yes I replaced my 3570k with the Xeon because I have to mess. The Xeon is awesome, way better than the I5 and I should have built with it to start with. Over the rest of this year, we'll see some more games using 8 threads, so it will be interesting to see its performance.

dont upgrade the CPU...save your money, save more up. run SLI 770s or overclock the CPU more before you go waste money for minimal performance gains gaming wise (i7's and xeons, clearly it goes without saying that a newer i5 4670k makes no sense at all)
