[SOLVED] Upgrade for my old i5 6600k

Sup!

Back a few years, i've build the then common GTX1060 6GB + i5 6600k PC
In CPU Intensive Games or in those that have to load lots of stuff in at once, i notice my CPU going into overdrive.

My 1060 6GB is still doing its job well so i dont plan on changing that one yet.

The Budget i would set at somewhere around ~300-400€

Your I5-6600K is an oldie but goodie.
It can be overclocked if you have a Z motherboard.
I still keep mine on a second pc.
It has 4 threads and a passmark rating of 6284. That is when all 4 threads are fully in use. The single thread rating is 2331. that is usually most important for games.

A more current gen upgrade is going to need a change from your ddr3 ram.
I would look at the i5-11400 processor.
12 threads and a rating of 17319/3051.
Add a lga1200 motherboard and a 2 x 8gb kit of DDR4 ram.
I imagine that would fit your budget.

#Edit i was about to look for a 12600k until i realized how overpriced those motherboards are currently 😀

The i5-11400F looks better with every video or website that i look at.
I already have DDR4 sticks so i would even save money on that
