Hi,
I am currently looking to upgrade several components on my computer. I use it for video editing/compositing. I have been overwhelmed with so many different options in the store so any advice would be great.

I have limited budget, US$650. My current system is a fairly old pentium D, 2Gb ram.
From what i have read I think I will upgrade motherboard, processor and ram.

Is this the bets way to use my money? What components would be best for that price range?

Thanks

Well, if you're going to reuse your case/HDD/PSU/graphic card etc, then I suggest you get this:

Intel Core i5 750 2.66GHz - $199.99
ASUS P7P55D-E LX - $134.99
G.Skill Ripjaws 4GB DDR3 1600MHz ~ $120

That's ~ $455. If you're still using IDE, then I suggest you upgrade and get a Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB or WD Caviar Black 1TB for ~ $90. That would bring your total up to $545. If you don't mind maxing your budget, then get a Core i7 860 too will you're at it for $90 more - otherwise I'd just pick up another 4GB of RAM if you are doing heavy video editing.
