Upgrade from 6700k

So my current build is
6700k stock speed
64gb Corsair LED ram
Samsung 950 pro 512 gb ssd
Gtx 1080 FE
850 evga platinum psu
And full xps water cooling with dual 360 rads
Fractal design case

So my question is I want to upgrade
Im thinking about
6850k 6 core and OC to 4.0
Additional 64gb corsair LED total 128gb
Same ssd
Same psu
Mobo is x99 msi carbon gaming
And keep full water cooler too, maybe I will add extra 360 in the future
Same gpu

What do you guys think, I dont do much computing, I play, edit photos and videos no 4k or high end VR stuff

The video editing will certainly like the extra cores and RAM, as well the photo editing to a degree. Tho if you're doing it as a hobby I don't know if the price vs performance would be worth the $1200 upgrade fee.

Are you experiencing a CPU or RAM bottleneck? Have you tried overclocking your CPU?

What a terrible build. I'm surprised your internet even works with a mere 6700K. You obviously need a workstation since you don't do much computing.

You could also; set the money on fire, feed a homeless person for a year, go to Vegas and put it all on black 23, learn to scuba dive, take a cruise etc. You'd get more out of your money doing any of those things

Oh, oh! I vote for SCUBA diving! Then you can take up underwater photography/video and have more stuff to do on the computer. Much better use for $1200 than the upgrade I think. Plus diving rocks.

Basically Anort3's very Snarky Post is right, your not using the system enough to even make the upgrade worth the cost.

i7-6850K $499 - i7 6700K Resell $289= $210 spent on very minor performance increase.

Simply overclock your current rig for a cheap upgrade. Cost = $0.

Moving to that new system makes no sense at all, and there are newer (presumably faster) CPUs coming soon from Intel and possibly (hopefully) AMD.
