heres my setup before we get into anything:
AMD 8320 STOCK clocks because motherboard VRMs overheat
ASRock extreme3 990fx AM3+
Corsair Venegence 8gb 1600mhz
Corsair H100
Sapphire reference r9 290
Corsair CX750M psu
Xigmatek Alfar windowed case (1 front intake, 1 rear exhaust. 2 top exhaust on h100)
1680x1050 Dell 22 inch monitor
I have about £600 (want some steam games on winter sale, so try hold some moolah back for that 😉 )

Just looking for ideas really on what to upgrade, open to any ideas!

Thanks in advance!

R9 290 is fine
The cheapest option is buy a new mobo that support overclocking , otherwise

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor (£165.00 @ Aria PC)
Motherboard: ASRock Z87 Extreme4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£100.98 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £265.98
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

the mobo has 12 phase power design for huge overclocking , it also supports Crossfire/SLI
I'd definitely look into upgrading your power supply and adding an additional R9-290 in crossfire. Otherwise it'd probably be prudent for you to wait til the 980Ti release, so you can really see the performance increase you're most likely desiring. As of now, I wouldn't suggest ditching the 290 in favor or either of the current 9xx series cards. That wouldn't, in my opinion, feel as though it were worth it

What do you think the temps would be like of 2 CF 290s? and i will be needing a psu yes? and what monitor do you recommend? and any ideas on motherboards?

thank you, i was thinking of paying a bit extra for more wattage as a 850w is about £110 for some reason, and 1000w of the same quality is about the same price within £10 range so thats 150w for nothing basically...
and 1300w opens the door for tri-fire if i need it...
another question would be, what 290 should i get? i can get a reference sapphire off ebay for £170 but the seller is including a sempron for free :/ therefore means he was mining...
OR i pay extra £40 and get a tri-x oc version but i dont know what would be better

ASUS R9-290 4GB 1.0GHz

Matches roughly the same clock, and cheaper NEW alternative. I usually never buy anything second hand, as my luck is terrible. I do however have a buddy that bought a 290X from a guy that was selling three identical, used. Obviously a bitcoin beast. Card running smooth at the moment, but my money isn't on it staying that way lol

Yeah lol, well actually, i cant say much as i myself used to mine a bit, but i never overclocked and i kept the card nice and cool and all alone so it didnt overheat, but i didnt do anything major, only done it for a few weeks, but all of these lads selling now, probably blasted them constant for over a year!
I would look at new but they will take a large percentage of my budget away :/
