I noticed these were both the same socket type, and I'm curious if I can do the swap. I've swapped a few laptop CPUs before but it's generally a question of BIOS version. My laptop (Toshiba Satellite L775D-S7330) doesn't seem to be too popular, and google hasn't yielded anything useful. I believe the voltage will be fine. It's just going to be about the BIOS I think.

It's only $35 on amazon for the A8, so I might just get it and see if it works, but if someone has a definite "No" that would sure save me the headache of $35 and wasted time. Thanks guys.

I don't believe it works. The Socket for the A6-3400M is the Socket FS1, the Sockets that the A8-5550M seems to only work with the Socket FS1r2.
Would you guys say that the jump from an A6-3400m (6520g) to the A8-3550mx (6620g) is worth it? I'd go from 1.4GHz quad to a 2.0Ghz quad, and a core GPU clo0ck from 320MHz to 400Mhz. On paper it sounds like a worthy upgrade still. I could be wrong. Thoughts?

Really depends on what you're doing. Either graphics kinda suck so its not like you gonna be doing EXTREME gaming or anything, as well you're gonna have a lower battery life due to the higher power consumption of the A8, and lastly depending on what you're doing but the CPU boost might be worthless. if you're just browsing internet/netflix/music/etc then the 1.4 GHz is fine, if it ever needs more it'll do its turbo thing up to 2.3 GHz.
