Hey guys,

I'm just wondering what the best upgrade might be from an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+, if any. I ask this because I'm looking for a solid performance when it comes to gaming, especially after purchasing a GTX 275, because my 6400+ just doesn't seem to be able to keep up anymore. I've done a lot a research these past couple of days on the relatively new AMD Athlon II X2 and Phenom II X2 series chips, but I have yet to find a benchmarking chart or list or otherwise that compares these latest chips to my older 6400+.

Does anyone have any suggestions or mind pointing me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance. :)

I also think that the 550be might be a good choice for you. It is the am3 Athlon II dual core right?

I have the x2 6400 B.E. and the phenom 9850 B.E. and the phenom II 940.

both quads give better performance the the dual core, but not as much as I expected on benchmark06 however. I think overclocked at 3.4 ghz on the 6400 I was seeing around 3700 for the cpu score. With the Phenom 9850 I saw some where in the mid 4000 range, and with the phenom II 940 I am seeing somewhere in the high 5000 range for cpu score. I am still running the 6400 B.E. and I have no problems with any of these CPUs.

Wow, NewEgg just brought the price down for the 550 BE to $99 today with free shipping, so yeah, I think I'll definitely being going with that. I'm so glad prices for AMD CPUs in general have gone down, as I should have no problem selling my 6400+ for around that amount to "break even". Thanks again for your help, everyone.
