System is:
Gateway DX4860
3.40 gigahertz Intel Core i7-2600
Board: Gateway IPISB-VR 1.01
Bus Clock: 100 megahertz

AMD Raedon 6750

Would there be any advantage to upgrade to a more recent graphics card.

Thanks for any suggestions.

LaCie 324i 24.0"vis Monitor. I do some Photoshop.

I don't do gaming.

What precipitated this query is I'm eventually going to purchase a 55" 4K TV set in 6 months or more, that could also be used as a PC monitor. In this regards, I read on http://www.rtings.com/ that 4:4:4 capability in recommended.

Thank you for those helpful replies.

Looking inside, I see that my present card, AMD Raedon 6750, looks to be occupying 2 slots and has a connector from the psu.

If I were to delete our cable tv feed, and go Internet for video to 2 TV sets, does that change anything in your recommendation? Do I need a card with 2 hdmi connectors? Or a more powerful card?

Been doing much reading with many tabs open in Chrome. Information overload.

Thanks again.

Paul.

I just realized that the card is actually an AMD Raedon 5750, not a 6750.

Also, the confuser is a Gateway FX4860. There is no model DX4860.

Appreciate your help, stavrosmast.

Thank you both for the above info.

I'm guessing that most or all cards available today have PCI-E slot on the motherboard. Not knowing what such a slot looks like, can anyone tell me if my mb has such a slot? Also, maximum wattage the card should be?

Board: Gateway IPISB-VR 1.01

Thanks again,

Paul.

hello , its the large blue pci-e slot on your motherboard just above the 3 small black slots and the 3045 watch battery, the same thing you will be pulling your old graphics card out of , take note of any cables you unplug from your old card inside the case , there should be a 6-pin power connector you will want to put into your new one, as for graphics card and wattage i know a 750ti will be ok with your psu and cpu , i say a 750ti because the 650's are discontinued and buying second hand you never know how long it will last .

Thanks, cheapo. I like the moniker.

I don't mind spending 2 - 250-ish, especially when discounted. Some of the suggestions re older cards aren't available here in Canada. I would rather not go used. And want to deal with Amazon .ca cuz i have Prime. Newegg .ca is another good source. Bestbuy .ca, too.

I haven't yanked the 5750 but I think it's occupying 2 slots. It's in there jammed up to the Crucial ram chip.

There is a connection on the rear of the 5750 cards so that's likely the 6-pin connector you are referring to.

Thank you for your help.

Regards, Paul.

a gtx 750 ti would be the perfect solution, as you would not need to change anything else

make sure you uninstall the drivers first before swapping in the new card

for light gaming im assuming at 1080p and a 450w psu a 750 ti is the best choice or a better card for your psu would be a 950
