Aiming for a 1080p 60fps build on High-Extreme, my computers becoming a little outdated. I built it 4 years ago, and was told to do a true upgrade I would need a new mother board, processor, and RAM (DDR4). I'm not sure if my graphics card is up to snuff with today's selection as well. I'm aiming for the best possible and my upgrade budget is around 300-400. Here are my current specs:

Operating System

Windows 10 Home 64-bit

CPU

AMD FX-6300

Vishera 32nm Technology

RAM

16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz (9-9-9-24)

Motherboard

MSI 760GM-P34(FX) (MS-7641) (CPU1)

Graphics

3072MB ATI AMD Radeon R9 200 Series (XFX Pine Group)

Storage

476GB SanDisk SD7SB7S512G1122 SATA Disk Device (SATA (SSD))

931GB TOSHIBA DT01ACA100 SATA Disk Device (SATA )

Realtek High Definition Audio

What would be the best upgrades in the current market? Thanks for the help!

Solution
Since you have 16 GB DDR3 it would be worth it to get used platform which is still based on DDR3, like a Z97 motherboard with i7-4970K and you might still have budget for a better graphics card. If you can sell the old parts you could get something like RX 580 or 1060 6 GB

That platform is as much a dead-end as the one the OP needs to replace. They could do that, yes, and see some performance gains, but in the end...

For the GPU upgrade you suggest, for 1080p, I can't argue against the suggestions.
But for new parts, I'd still recommend Ryzen 3 or 5, a new B450 MoBo, and new RAM... It will beat Haswell and Haswell Refresh/Devil's Canyon. It is more money, admittedly, but the upgrade path actually exists. I'd only suggest Kaby-Lake or newer for Intel.
