Hi Guys,

I wanted to upgrade my CPU, because upcoming games might need more cpu power than my FX6100 is able to provide. So I was wondering if I should get the FX8350 or FX9590 or go the Intel route? Or if I should upgrade at all? My budget is around $350-400, but since I'm in Mexico the prices might be different.
Also I will be changing my case with the same budget probably, going from a CM HAF 912 to the CM Scout 2 Advanced.

My specs:
CPU: FX6100 3.3ghz
Mobo: GA-970-UD3
RAM: 16GB
GPU: R9270x

I recommend to get the i5 4590 + H97 or the cheaper Z97 like MSI Z97 PC MATE + CM Scout 2 Advanced. And don't buy the fx9590.
Or get the Xeon e3-1230/1231 V3, which is equal to the i7 3770/ i7 4770 , but without onboard iGPU, + H97 ( or MSI Z97 PC MATE )

Hi cin19,

How much of an increase of performance will be I noticing in daily tasks and in gaming? Is it really worth getting a new mobo and the i5 or just upgrading my cpu to an FX8350? I might have to save up some more money for that upgrade though. Thanks for the quick reply

Sorry I forget you are not in USA.
Just get the fx8320 or 8350, and the MB can handle the fx8 series cpu well, because it has enough VRMs. If you can offer to buy the Xeon then it is best, and make sure you will buy other aftermarket cpu cooler for the fx8 cpu too, like the one is 120mm size.
For games i5 is a little bit or similar to the fx8320/8350 for most current games.
