Hello,
I need some advice on an upgrade to my build. This is it:

(late 2014)
Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Hero
Cpu: Intel core i5 4690k w/ delid under Dark Rock 3 @4.5Ghz
Gpu: MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 4G
Ram: Corsair Kit 16GB DDR3 2133MHz Vengeance Pro CL11 (@2400Mhz)
Monitor: BenQ Zowie XL2720@144Hz
Psu: Corsair AX860

As you can see I own a 144hz monitor and my 970 can't keep the frames up in recent titles with high settings. I know my cpu can last for three more years or so before becoming obsolete for high performance. (It has been overclocked for 4 years and the wear is showing, can't overclock it at 4.6/4.7 anymore within the safe limits for it, I started getting bluescreens and concluded that I should bring down my cpu to a lower vcore)
All I need is advice picking a gpu that'll do good for the next 4-5 years and that can run 1080p @+90fps at high/max settings, I've done some research and the rtx 2060/gtx 1070 look good, but I have no clue if they're actually worth the money right now or if I should wait a bit to see if the prices come down or wait for a new generation of gpu's. Thank you in advance :)

I'd skip the GTX 1070 and get the RTX 2060. Certain CPU intensive games are already seeing limitations with quad-core i5s. Shouldn't be too bad though. We might see some new GPUs by the end of the year though not sure when.
Thanks for the reply :) What about the 1660ti? Is it worth it or should I just jump to the 2060?

Get the RTX 2060, if you can afford to buy one. It's also going to be more future-proof as well. The GTX 1660Ti is also a great 1080p card, but if you are looking for some more performance in games, then the RTX seems to be a much better choice.

You can also play Ray tracing games on this GPU.
